Karl Lau, E.I.T. joins the Oakland office and will serve as a Project Engineer.
Karl’s background in residential, multi-family housing and commercial projects greatly compliments CaliChi’s multi-use, commercial and urban development markets. Karl brings recent experience on numerous prior multi-use projects on the Peninsula as well as the Stanford University Housing project.
Among other current CaliChi projects, Karl is working on the Hollis Street Lofts project across from the new Oakland office.
The Oakland office of CaliChi has recently moved to larger facilities in the up and coming industrial area of West Oakland. CaliChi’s new home boasts a large studio/work/live space on Peralta Street which accommodates our growing work force.

Our new office is across the street from one of CaliChi’s current projects, Hollis Street Lofts, a 125-condominium project which is just coming out of the ground. Our new studio has a wonderful vantage point to see the project come to fruition, as well as be on hand for any engineering issues as construction continues.
Kevin Hejtmanek, P.E. joins CaliChi Design Group’s Chicago office as Regional Project Engineer. Kevin has worked on numerous commercial, energy, residential and transportation projects throughout Chicago during the course of his career and brings a deep knowledge and expertise on successful permitting passage and methodology through many jurisdictions with numerous municipalities. His diversity in all aspects of civil design and engineering, especially with storm water management, sewer and utility design and erosion and sediment control will be a viable asset on the CaliChi team across the organization. Welcome Kevin!
Patrick Schlehr, P.E. joins Calichi Design Group’s Oakland office and will serve as the regional Project Manager. Patrick comes with a strong background in civil engineering as well as expertise in both the commercial and residential markets. Patrick has a long history in the bay area having worked with a number of noted civil firms as well as public agencies. We are excited he is on board!
Austin Hahn, P.E., Co-founder of CaliChi Design Group has been named one of the 2017 top 40 under 40 leaders in the retail design industry. CaliChi Design Group are noted civil engineers with offices in Chicago, Oakland, Ohio, Portland and Hawaii. Austin has devoted his career to the retail market sector and works with numerous national retail programs around the country.
Austin attended the awards ceremony this past week in May in New York. All award recipients participated in the annual Markopoulos Roundtable where they were paired with legacy industry icons who have been previously awarded for their lifetime contributions and mentorship outreach for an open discussion on the industry and retail trends of the future. This was followed by the awards ceremony and reception.

Reco Prianto was recently certified by the Board of Oregon for his P.E. license and will lead efforts to establish an office in Portland.
CaliChi Design Group welcomes Stephen B. Landes to the team. Stephen will serve as Project Manager covering both the Hawaii and Oakland offices. Prior to joining CDG he worked at SSFM International for several years focused on design of a multitude of mixed use facilities, redevelopment and roadway projects. We’re very excited to have Stephen on board.
Louise McGinnis Barber joins CaliChi as Vice President of Business Development and will lead the firm’s development and marketing initiatives. Prior to joining CDG she served as the Western Region Director for Science + Technology for HDR and has worked at numerous A/E/C firms in a similar capacity throughout the industry. We are excited to have her on board!
Reco Prianto is now certified under the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSP) and Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP) program.
The State of California General Permit requires that a certified QSD prepare all Storm water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and that a certified QSP manage the application of the SWPPP during Construction. If you have an upcoming project that is covered by the California General Permit and will require a SWPPP, as a Legally Responsible Person (LRP) or property owner, you are liable for non-compliant storm water discharges including hefty daily fines and even jail time.
