In conjunction with Cupples Design, CaliChi Design Group was awarded 7 out of 13 sites for the living schoolyards projects for OUSD that were CalFire grant funded opportunities to improve outdoor areas for K-12 students to support health, wellness and to enhance a sense of community. CaliChi will ensure OUSD Design Guidelines are met, as well as act as liaison for DSA and OUSD maintenance. Services will include stormwater management, raised beds for food gardens that will be self-sustaining from a water recirculation and capture plan, addressing various site design issues, as well as mitigating heat, sustainable shade canopies and pollution impacts for outdoor play areas, etc.
