CDG provided civil engineering and construction administration for the Fletcher Jones Audi of North Avenue dealership in Chicago, Illinois. The facility is a four-story, 101,160-square-foot automobile showroom and inventory building on a 23,401-square-foot parcel. Fitting that program onto a compact urban parcel required precise civil coordination from the earliest design decisions through the excavation phase.
During the construction phase, CDG prepared site excavation plans for Skender Construction, the project’s general contractor. Working directly with the GC on excavation sequencing is construction administration at its most practical: the team that designed the civil plan set answers field questions with direct knowledge of the original design intent, without reconstructing the basis of design from scratch on each issue.
