Campolindo High School, a campus of the Acalanes Union High School District in Moraga, California, needed pavement rehabilitation and drainage improvements. Calichi Design Group served as the civil engineering subconsultant to LCA Architects, providing civil design for the repaving of the 2.5-acre Main Parking Lot and repair of drainage infrastructure across campus.
CDG’s scope covered the full project cycle: a limited topographic survey to establish existing conditions, schematic design, 50% and 90% construction documents, Division of the State Architect (DSA) submittal and back-check review, bidding assistance, and construction phase services through completion. All six scope items reached 100% completion by mid-2017.
DSA oversight is mandatory for California K-12 public school construction. Construction documents must satisfy state standards for accessibility, structural performance, and life safety before a contract can go to bid. CDG prepared the DSA submittal, resolved state agency back-check comments, and supported the project through construction and final closeout.
